I have a 25k IN pool with an “overflow” hot tub on the end. I
regularly run the chlorinated, filtered water into the hot tub which
spills into the pool, but the hot tub gets “brown” and does not look
nearly as nice and crisp as the pool. Suggestions? The previous
owners repainted the pool before selling the house, […]

decks
August 3rd, 2007 · 1 Comment
I need to resurface my pool deck. Currently, there is concrete with
kool deck on top. The kool deck is cracking and coming up (it freezes
where I live). Can I take up the kool deck and smooth the underlying
concrete? Can I put a new surface over the underlying concrete?
Thanks so much.

Hi,
Has anyone built a home-made solar heater system (with 3/8th or 1/2
inch black pvc tubing?). Looking to open earlier next year and close
later!
thanks,

BBB routine example
August 1st, 2007 · No Comments
Can someone please post an example of their “routine”? How often do you
find that you typically have to add bleach during the week? I know this
differs depending on several factors, but I would like to get some idea
of how this works. When you add bleach, do you add it to “shock” each
time or just enough […]

Chipping off old plaster
August 1st, 2007 · No Comments
I have an older gunnite / plaster pool that I’ve been doing underwater
plaster patches on for 4 years now and have determined it’s time to
look into resurfacing it. I know there are two approaches to removing
the old plaster: sandblasting or chipping it off with some sort of
power chisel device. I’m a pretty handy guy (service […]

Solar Heaters in New England
July 22nd, 2007 · No Comments
Hi,
Does anyone in New England use a solar heater? Does it allow you to
open earlier and close later? I’m not too concerned with the actual
temperature usually - just curious if they really work. 24′ round
pool, 52 inches, any recommendations would be appreciated.
thanks,
dan

Algae in waste pipe?
July 21st, 2007 · No Comments
After cleaning the pool the other day, I went over to the filter to
backwash it. I noticed at that point that I had some green algae
growing in the waste pipe (the pipe that leads from the filter to the
sewer system). There is a clear area in the pipe (so I can see if the
water is […]
