new in ground pool pump - advice welcome!!!

August 28th, 2007 · No Comments

Hi all,
We heard yesterday that it is just couple hundred dollars difference to
install a new pool pump than to repair our old one. They first
recommended a hydro whisper - but the same guy also mentioned a pump
with speeds, and I phoned about it. It is called a Pentair Intelliflo
4×160 pump. […]

Re mesh cover

August 17th, 2007 · No Comments

growing up we had a mesh cover for our 18′ x 36′ IG pool, what a royal pain!
sure the leaves all stay on the cover but all the crud goes right through,
so the pool was always nasty when taking the cover off. On my 24′ AG I have
been using a cover that is not mesh […]

cloudy water Baqucil

July 25th, 2007 · No Comments

This is our third year with Baqucil and our third year as an above
ground pool owner. We love Baqucil but are having a frustrating
problem right now. I have the water tested as often as I can but we
are
quite rural and the nearest place is almost an hour away. I also use
the Baqucil strips. Everying comes […]

borax

July 23rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

increases the PH, baking soda the alkilinity. its known as the BBB
method for beach, borax, and baking soda. some people like it and some are
adamantly opposed. I have been using it this year with supplemental 3″ tabs
and (knocking on wood) have not had a problem with algae or cloudiness this
season, my water has been nice […]

Vacuuming and still dirt on bottom of pool?????

July 11th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I have been vacuuming my pool and it doesn’t seem like the dirt on
the bottom is going anywhere.
The vacuum is sucking up when I use it.
I notice after vacuuming for awhile, the water comes out the hole
back in the pool and is cloudy.
Should this be happening? I thought the filter was suppose to
keep the dirt […]

Finding underground pipe leak

June 25th, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve determined that I have a pipe leak under ground on a return line. My
method was to measure the drop in water level over 24 hours ( 1/2 inch ). I
then put stoppers in the return outlets and closed the valve for the line
and measured the lost over 24 hrs. Blocking the […]

Cartridge Filters

June 20th, 2007 · No Comments

I have a Foxx pool with a Wal Pack that takes cartridge filters. I’m
getting some very fine dirt in the pool that my filters won’t seem to
pick up. I’m thinking that I need to replace the cartridges as they
are about 3 years old. I looked at a site that has them and they have
3 different […]

Solar Sun Rings

June 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Just curious….has anyone on the list tried those solar sun rings?
They are round, 5 ft. in diameter, and you slightly inflate them. I’ve
seen them in the In The Swim catalog. They seem like they would be
easier to handle than the solar blankets, but they are a bit expensive.
Thanks!

Filter not Functioning

June 4th, 2007 · 3 Comments

Hello, new to the group and I really could use some help. About two
weeks ago I was adding a chlorine generator to my above ground pool
system. I closed the valve body while working on it and when
finished, I forgot to turn it back to filter. I ran the pump for
about an hour until it finally […]

Suggestions to repair pool liner???

May 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I would like to try and get one more season from my pool liner. I have
a big hole at the top of one section of my liner of my 18 foot round
pool. I tried to use an inflatable piece of material with glue and
stick it all together along with tape but I must have left […]
