Solar-Heating Panels?

August 14th, 2007 · No Comments

We would like to extend the useful season for our 16′ x 32′ Kayak pool
earlier in the spring and later in the fall, as well as get the water to
the warmest possible temps. E have been using a solar cover and that
really has helped (until it started falling apart this season), but I’ve
been considering these solar water-heating panels sold for pools.
Anyone with good/bad experiences?
The info on these and “connecting” kits seem pretty skimpy — any hints
up front on additional connecting hardware/hoses/stuff that I should
buy?
How sturdy are these? I was thinking of 20′ x 4′ hinged onto the long
edge of the deck of the Kayak pool — just over 4′ off of the ground.
When not in use the panel would hang down vertically and out of the way.
In the morning the kids would go out and swing the panel up to
horizontal so that it gets full sun. With water running through it is
it too heavy to be easily supported horizontally? Or for the kids to

lift up?
Thanks!
Dana
