July 24th, 2007 · 2 Comments

anyone have problems w/chronic ear infections? was wondering if could
be coming from the pool? altho chems all read find, could there be
something in the water causing them? or is just from us swimming too
much. we spend 3 to 5 hours in the pool a day. doc did tell us to
use a vinager/alcohol mix to dry out the ears when we get out, it is
just pain but if we dont we end up w/ear infections.
thx 4 any help!

I’ve had ear infections my whole life and had a very bad case of
swimmers ear a couple years ago. Lucky for me it hit me right in the
middle of evacuating from hurricane Rita, 15 hours driving the family
with it was not fun. My kids are on the swim team and my daughter
especially will have an earache from time to time.
The vinegar/alcohol mix works very well, although our doc told us not to
use it every time because it will kill beneficial bacteria as well as
the bad guys. Just today we were in the pool escaping the heat and my
daughter complained about her ear. She put some drops in her ear and I
    haven’t heard a complaint since.

    I have the cure!
    1 part alcohol
    1 part vinegar
2-3 drops in each ear for 30 seconds to a minute every time you swim and
you will never have another ear infection from swimming.
The alcohol dries up the water and the vinegar raises the acidity in the
    ear so infections can’t start.
    Happy swimming.
