Vacuuming and still dirt on bottom of pool?????

July 11th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I have been vacuuming my pool and it doesn’t seem like the dirt on
the bottom is going anywhere.
The vacuum is sucking up when I use it.
I notice after vacuuming for awhile, the water comes out the hole
back in the pool and is cloudy.
Should this be happening? I thought the filter was suppose to
keep the dirt in it and then when I backwash, it should release it.
Any suggestions?
After the water settles again, the dirt is still on the bottom.
Thanks,
Suzanne

Try some clarifier/flocculant, it will bind smaller particles into
bigger ones the filter can handle better. If your water is really
cloudy, let the pump run a normal cycle after adding it, then shut it
down. Overnight it’ll settle to the bottom of the pool and you can then
    vac it up.

if when you are vacuuming you can see debris returning thru the return
lines, there is something wrong with the filter. Either it is not
assembles correctly, or there are some damged parts inside. To better
help you, please provide the type of filter it is, and if possible, the
make and model of it. It could be something as simple as a broken oring.
