hi all i just joined… we just bought a house this winter w/a 27/28
ft above ground pool (and of course we never had one before) and it
has a hayward sand filter system.
the pool has been fine for the most part till beg of july. we did
have a hose spring a leak this spring so dh changed all the hoses.
we went on vacation (turnt pump off but housesitter did run it a few
houses a day when she came over), well we got rid of the green but not
the cloudiness. then the skimmer basket broke, and now a new hose
sprung yet another leak. arg… do any of you use an alternative
tubing/hoses? dh wants to try flexible pvc piping to see if holds up
better. our pump was left running below skimmer level cuz we didn’t
know it sprung a leak and dont want it to happen again, of course, if
possible.
my main question is we use the 3″ chlorine tables and place them in
the skimmer basket. could that be what is causing everything to break?
i have since ordered a floater.
we had such a crystal clear pool before we left i wonder if we can
ever get that back.
thx for any help!
any ideas… hoses.. etc…

The chlorine won’t affect your hoses like that. Have you backwashed
your filter lately? That will help. Then, add clarifier as per
directions on bottle. Wait about a day and make sure you vacuum the
pool bottom for residue that will gather. And yes, you can get it
back. We’ve all “been there, done that”.
