My pool is now up to a bathtub-like 92 F. Any suggestions for
cooling? I’ve heard of running the solar heating system at night
though I’m not sure how well that would work. I suppose aiming a fan
at it at night might help knock off a couple degrees. 87 would feel
really nice right now.
Yes, the solar system is off. Otherwise it would easily be over 100
F. Been swimming since mid-March this year.
Pool stats - 12,000 gallon in-ground, concrete, ozone/salt/DE filter
system, with cage, solar heat, perfect southern exposure, Tampa FL,
typical July day is 90-93 F at 85% humidity. Just completed first year
of ownership.
Thanks,
Don

Reversing the solar heating bypass valve to bring the panels into
operation at night is VERY effective at lowering the temperature. You
can lose at least as much during the night using them as radiators as
you can gain during the day using them as collectors. You can also do
this on cool/cloudy/rainy days too.
I have 60% more solar panel area than is recommended for my pool and I
reverse them regularly during the peak summer months to keep the water
temperature out of the 90’s.
