Flying ants and other pests

May 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment

These darn flying ants are doing the kamikaze thing into our 27′ above
ground pool faster then the skimmer and I (with a net) can keep up! Anybody
else being inundated? (We’re in the middle GA area.)
Also got something swimming in the pool that look kind of like tiny
penguins. They’re about an inch long and have two ‘legs’ they use to swim.
much like a penguin does. They’re FAST little devils too. Once I catch ‘em
in the net, they start jumping around like a fish. What the heck are they.
I’m starting to feel like I’m running a zoo instead of a pool!

I don’t know about the flying ants as we don’t have those in NE Kansas.
But the other critter sounds like a water bug we have around her in the
ponds. We get them sometimes in the pool.
I have noticed that when we want to swim at night we light a citronella
candle and put it on the deck. It helps keep the mosquitoes away, and we
have plenty of those! Might help with the ants.
