Pool Filling and pool cover questions

April 22nd, 2007 · 1 Comment

We hope to fill our 18 x 4′ AG pool this week.
6400 gallon prox capacity.
Anyone know how long it takes to fill on city water,
normal pressure ?
Its cheaper to fill with city water and take the waste water
credit than to have it trucked in by tanker.
Also, what should I be looking for in buying a cover?
Interested in both solar cover and all year cover. What
mil is good?
Thanks so much.

If you have city water, it’s probably cheaper to just throw the hose in. We
filled our 24′ round and our water bill was $92.00 more than it usually is. One
truck load of water is $175 and that would only make it 3/4 full so we would
need to finish it off with the hose anyway. So we saved about $80 using the
    hose.
For anyone with WELL WATER - DO NOT FILL WITH THE HOSE!! Yes it would seem to
be common sense but I know two individuals who were raised with city water,
moved to homes with wells, and ended up drying up their wells from filling their
    pools.
