Pool Contracters

January 25th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I am in the process of looking to get my inground pool re morisited.
I called 11 companys that said they did that, Three made appointments
and never came to them, Two said they did not do that type of repair,
three never returned calls, and three actually came out and gave
estamates. Out of curiosity has anyone else had the same sort of
experiance. I actually expected better, I was hoping for six or so
estamates to get a ballpark of price and then call references from
there. The estamates I got were 3600, 4600, and 8000.
Sorry, Just wanted to vent for a couple of seconds.

$4000 doesn’t seem like much money to a contractor when many complete pools
go for $40,000. Take a second look at what you asked for and what was
promised. A range of 10-20 % sounds reasonable. The $8000 estimate sounds
like what I call a “lotto bid”. They probably don’t really want the work
but if you call them back it is like they won the lottery.

The 4000 range bids were Drain, presurewash, bondcoat and Marcitc Blue
Diamond coat with 5 year warrnety they also talked about cutting in
around the existing tile line and repairing bubbled areas. One of the
bids also included a step that used something like a grinder over the
pool surface but I cant find my note about it. The 8000 bid was from an
more upscale company than I had realized, Their references included
Disney water rides and major institutions so I agree they probably
weren’t really interested in my 17×35 oval
