Nature2 and salt system?

January 16th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I added an aqua logic controller and chlorine generator to my
30,000gal inground pool back in May and it’s been great. The system
already had a Nature2 cartridge system on it and I had an extra
cartridge so I left that intact for the Summer.
When I took water in to the local pool store the clerks thought it was
nuts to be running both the Nature2 and a chlorine generator.
The cartridge is running out and I need to decide whether I should
yank the nature2 out and just use higher chlorine levels, or continue
buying the Nature2 cartridges and have less chlorine in the pool.
It seems like using the Nature2 and therefore less chlorine generation
needed would extend the life of the generator cell? And I like having
lower chlorine levels. I can change the plumbing around pretty easily
to remove the Nature2 system.
Any recommendations out there?

I keep chlorine below 1ppm (normally around .5ppm)
I use a “salt water” based chlorine generator as the source of
chlorine so I’m not adding chlorine tablets. (that’s why my original
post was asking should I continue using the Nature2)
The Nature2 was already installed when we bought the house.
