Heat retention - liquid blanket

December 28th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Does anyone have experience using these “liquid blanket” in there pool
for heat retention. I live in NJ and even when we have warm days at
night it can cool down into the 50’s. I have a gas heater and I have
noticed a significant drop in temperature from evening to the following
morning. This past week I lost 6 degrees overnight.
Thanks

We tried the liquid solar fish this summer, and really didn’t notice it
helping much. In fact, we didn’t bother replacing them after the first month.
    As
much as I fought the idea, a real solar blanket is worth the effort.

We used the liquid this year, too. I don’t know if it really helped
retain the water temp much…. maybe just 2-4 degrees, and that’s
it. BUT, it did a really good job at keeping the water from
evaporating as quickly. We noticed a big difference in evaporation
when we did not add the liquid for a week.
