Hi,
I just found this group and hope someone will answer my questions.( I’m on
another group
where I feel like I’m invisible–no one answers my few posts!)
I need a new liner for an old pool. I don’t know who manufactured or installed
the pool, so
I need to find a place to buy a new liner that will fit if we give exact
measurements and
order one.
I am seeing terminology for “ml” and for “gauge”. One site lists liners that go
for 25, 34,
38, and 48 gauge. Others give “ml”-20,27 or 28, 30. It’s hard to find 30 which
is what I
think I want. Is 48 gauge the same as 30 ml?
Second question–names of patterns. Why does it look like the same patterns keep
appearing under different company;s products, sometimes given a new pattern
name? Is
there a qualitative difference?
I have spent much time poring over the internet trying to find reputable
companies who
will sell liners to John Q. Public. SOme of the search engine finds don’t seem
to have great
BBB reports or can’t be found on BBB. Most of the places that have designs I
like want me
to find a “dealer”–none in my area, don’t answer product requests or e-mails,
only sell
liners to people who have their brand of pool. I’m getting really frustrated.
Can someone give a recommendation for a decent company they have dealt with,
selling
liners to DIY installers of vinyl liners? I am looking for those toffering 30
ml throughout or
at least 27 ml throughout. We have a rectangular hopper pool and we’re in
Maryland.
Thanks if you can help end my search misery!

Thanks for putting my post through and to those who answered.
A hopper is a deeper area, frequently squared off, at the end of a
slope leading away from the shallow end, often found in rectangular
I/G pools. For example, our pool has a 7 foot deep hopper.
I made myself a list of companies that offer vinyl liners.
Here’s what’s weird: Many of them have different names but have the
same contact phone number.
The most dominant size offered is 20 mil for inground liners, yet
over and over I have read that a minimum of 30 mil is recommended for
the walls. It is really hard to find sites that offer anything higher
than 27 mil.
Has anyone ordered from the discount places and been happy with the
liner? (No problems encountered?)
