I have a concrete and plaster pool in CT that needs a bit of tile work. As
we’re probably going to be selling the house within the next year, I’d like
to reset the (30) 2″ x 2″ tiles that have fallen off at various spots around
the perimeter.
Has anyone done their own tile repair or is there a pro onboard who can
suggest do’s and don’ts, best materials, etc?
TIA,
Sherri Fischer

Hi Sherri -
Sorry this is late, I was away from the list for a while…
I have some small amount of experience with this. I had a tile that fell off
(and got lost) from the waterline trim. I went to Home Depot and found a
tile that was fairly close in color, then cut it to size with a handheld
tile saw (never again; what a hassle *that* was). HD also sells some grout
(which can also be used as mastic, which makes things easier) that is
designed to be used in pools. It is premixed so you don’t need to add water
or anything. It goes on like standard grout. If you’re not familiar with
grouting tiles, HD has books and videos to help. It’s not that difficult,
and the tools you’ll need are inexpensive (probably under $20 total).
