Heat Pump Heater Make Sense in this climate?

October 12th, 2006 · No Comments

Good morning everyone,
Well, we’re going to take the plunge (pun intended)and have a 12×24
oval AG pool installed. We live in Toledo, OH. In my opinion, unless
you are a youngster, a pool heater in this climate is a must. My
question is: does a heat pump pool heater make any sense in this
climate? With natural gas prices on the moon, I’m wondering if a heat
pump would ultimately be a better choice - though we also have some of
the highest electric rates in the country here. I would guess that a
heat pump would not heat as quickly as a gas heater - but I don’t know
if that is a true statement. What size heat pump heater would you
recommend for a 12 x 24 x 52″ oval? I’d appreciate any responses
especially from anyone in this part of the country who may have a heat
pump heater. Thanks!
