Shocking the Pool

August 31st, 2006 · 1 Comment

Hi Everyone,
I have read all the old posts about when to shock the pool but I
still have a few questions.
The service company I am using told me to shock the pool using 3
bags of burn out extreme once a month and also after alot of people
swim in the pool and the pool is cloudy. This sound like alot to
me, what do others think?
For example, the pool was a month old Friday (June 2) so I shocked
it. Now I am having a party on June 21st, do I shock it again on
June 22nd? Or do I only shock it if the water is cloudy?
Also, do I only add shock if the filter will be running for a
certain about of time after?
Thanks in advance.
Debbie

I learned that lesson a couple years ago myself. I have sand filtration
and a drain line that goes to the curb, so I was fortunate to figure out
the valve wasn’t working properly without having to go through what you
went through with your DE system. As soon as I saw water going out the
drain with the valve in filter position, I knew water wasn’t flowing
where it should have been and there’s only one cause for that.
