Question for Aboveground Pool Owners

May 31st, 2006 · 2 Comments

Happy Holidays everyone!
I would like to know what the bottom surface of an aboveground pool
should look and feel like? Should it be smooth with no lumps, bumps,
or pits? Or is it more likely to be uneven or lumpy? Should you be
able to see or feel the support structure for the pool?
I guess this would be relevant to any pool with a vinyl liner.
Thanks for any and all responses!
Donna S.

Thanks for all your responses! Pretty much confirms what I was thinking. By
the way, I’m located in Missouri, US.
I don’t believe our pool was installed properly, and now we have a leak. The
pool store told us to let it drain until it stopped so we could find the
leak. From 48″ we’re now down to about 10″ and it doesn’t look like it’s going
    to
stop so the leak is probably on the bottom. Which is why I asked about how
    the bottom should look/feel.
The pool is 18×33 oval. The supports go across the 18′ width of the pool,
and are very obvious. They were covered with sand, but evidently it wasn’t
enough. The ladder has left some pretty deep indentations as well.
At this point I’m gathering information in order to fight when they try to
    put the blame on us.

    Any suggestions on strategy?
    Thanks!

That’s interesting to know. I’ll mention that next time I speak with the
pool store. In the meantime, I’m looking for someone other than them to
re-install it next spring, UNLESS they agree it’s their fault. Which is my main
    hope.
    Thanks,
