Scale?

April 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Can scale appear light brown in color? I’m still trying to figure out
what’s discolored my pool liner. I tried using a mop on it, but it didn’t
help. It doesn’t feel slimy, like I would expect algae to feel. If I run
my finger along it under the water, it feels like regular liner. Ideas?
After the hurricane passed through, my water got out of balance - alkalinity
around 200 ppm. This looks like the same stuff I was asking about a couple
of weeks ago (the lines along the bottom), before I had to go out of town.
Thanks,
Harry

Anyone have any opinion on solar systems? I just got an estimate on
installing Heliocol solar panels on my two rental homes. Price was about
    $3800 for a 9 panel (432 sq feet) and $4200 for a 10 panel (480 sq feet)
system, installed. This did not include the automation, which I would do
myself. There is a 12 year manufacturer’s warranty on the system which
covers everything except hurricanes over 110mph (rare in the Orlando area).
I like the Heliocol system because it uses blocks for mounting rather than
straps, and no rubber tubing, everything is PVC and gaskets. Also, there is
spacing between the tubes to prevent moisture collection underneath.
Since this is the first system I’ve checked out, I don’t know if these
features are common (they’re certainly not standard). We’re currently using
a heat exchanger for pool heat, which we’d use as a supplement once the
    solar was installed.
    Your opinions are much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Steve
