Should We. . .Or Shouldn’t We?

April 29th, 2006 · No Comments

Hi Everybody
We have an 18 ft x 36 ft vinyl lined IG.
We hardly swim in it and have been considering having it filled in. The
time and cost of maintaining it just seems to be a waste.
We also heard it said that an IG pool can make a home more difficult to
sell because most people don’t […]

Scale?

April 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Can scale appear light brown in color? I’m still trying to figure out
what’s discolored my pool liner. I tried using a mop on it, but it didn’t
help. It doesn’t feel slimy, like I would expect algae to feel. If I run
my finger along it under the water, it feels like regular liner. Ideas?
After the hurricane […]

In need of a Gas Valve

April 28th, 2006 · No Comments

Hi, I have a Hayward 100,00 BTU heater installed on my pool. I had a guy
come look at it because it has too much gas going through it. He said I
have a bad Gas Valve. The part number, I believe, is 470443 IDT VAL 1930.
I was wondering where I can get these, and how much, […]

Algae lines?

April 26th, 2006 · No Comments

I’ve finally gotten my water clear again, but I’ve still got what appears to
be lines of algae along the bottom of the pool. My vacuum brush didn’t
clean these up. Anybody know what this is? The color is a greenish-brown.
Thanks,
Harry

Suction Vac with pool cover on ?

April 24th, 2006 · No Comments

Hi all,
Just got new pool cover. Now I’m wondering if I should run my baracuda with
cover on?
Will it rub too much on the cover?
Should I buy the hide-a-hose attachment that makes hose sink?
What about polaris 360 (I have both), will it run OK under the cover too?
Any thoughts !
Darin

New construction questions

April 22nd, 2006 · 1 Comment

We are in the process of our gunite pool going in. I need help on quality
assurance.
Is it ok if they only tie every other bar in the rebar instead of every one?
I am not sure if they are dome yet, but this is how they are doing it.
Also, my plumbing is […]

Pool turned green after shock?

April 21st, 2006 · No Comments

My water was beautifully clear yesterday, althought the chemistry was way
out of whack after several days of heavy rain. Alkalinity low, pH low,
chlorine low. So I brought the alkalinity back up this weekend, got the pH
up higher (although it was still around 6.8), and shocked the pool late
yesterday afternoon. Today, the chemistry numbers look much […]

April 19th, 2006 · No Comments

My husband is trying to install a 15 x 30 above ground Atrium pool by
Vogue. The installer here in town nor the instructions can answer
some questions he has. Anyone here know about this particular pool?
Thanks,
Debbie

When do I use the rinse on my pump?

April 18th, 2006 · No Comments

Hi. I have a question regarding my pump. I have an inground pool with
a sand filter. When do I use the rinse setting on my pump? Right now,
I use the filter, waste and backwash settings. I’m unsure when to use
the rinse setting. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.
Mike
