Try rubbing a vitamin C tablet on your stain. If this removes your line then
you have Metal stains. To treat your whole pool use Ascorbic Acid which is
basically a powder form of Vitamin C. You can find it at Leslies Pool stores if
you have one in your area.
I had the same problem on our in ground fiberglass pool and it worked wonders.
