I’m the new owner of a new (to me) Hayward DE filter, to replace my
old sand filter. I took it apart, cleaned it in Muriatic Acid, and
I’ve got it hooked up and working fine
I pulled the cover off my pool this weekend. The filter quickly
started choking up during my vacuuming process, but the ‘bump’ worked
fine and I was able to keep going. The pool is starting to look
good, but the pressure climbs pretty fast now. I think I need to
dump and recharge the filter.
I see the port on the side that you are supposed to open to dump out
the old DE. However, I understand that DE is a less than desirable
substance. What do I do? If I just pull the plug, which is only 3″
above the ground, I certainly can’t catch it. Do I have to
disconnect the entire filter and lift it up in the air so I can dump
it into a bucket? Do I just let it run out on the ground?
Thanks for any responses!
