I just wanted to add that I don’t think that’s always the case. We are doing
an inground diy vinyl lined pool we got from Polar Pools (www.polarpools.com)
and they have been wonderful support, even having the diving board
manufacturer contact us when our inspector had some questions. […]

Pool Buying Tips

January 31st, 2006 · No Comments

The internet can be used effectively to help you negotiate a great
rate with the pool store. I bought my pool for 900$ less then listed
in store because I comparison shopped. Another helpful hint for
negotiation is just like a car, you are better able to get a deal at
the end of the day. I do agree […]

DE Filter

January 30th, 2006 · No Comments

I’m the new owner of a new (to me) Hayward DE filter, to replace my
old sand filter. I took it apart, cleaned it in Muriatic Acid, and
I’ve got it hooked up and working fine
I pulled the cover off my pool this weekend. The filter quickly
started choking up during my vacuuming process, […]

Proper Heater for 18′ Round Above Ground

January 29th, 2006 · No Comments

I am contemplating an 18’round Doughboy Desert Spring above ground
pool. I live in Toledo, Ohio. The pool salesman recommended a Pentair
MiniMax 100,000BTU heater. I know nothing about this heater and I also
believe it to be an entry level unit and inadequate to heat an 18′
above ground pool. They also sell Sta-Rite pool heaters which I’ve
read […]

Inground pool

January 28th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Hello everyone, My name is Tommy, and i bought a house back in late
September 2004. One of the actractions to this house was the inground
swimming pool in the back yard, however, much to my dismay, when i
uncovered the pool I found that the liner locks had worn away and the
liner has popped off in a […]

leaky/loose sand filter cap

January 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Hey all.. I’m a newbie here. My wife and I bought a house with an old
in-ground vinyl pool and I’m trying to learn about it and get it
opened up for the season. It’s 18×36, has a year old liner and a
Nature2 cartridge system, sand filter, and no heat.
The sand filter is […]

How much sand do we need to use

January 26th, 2006 · No Comments

Hello, we are installing our first above ground pool. It is a Used Doughboy
28 ft round pool. I was wondering how much sand we will need for the cove
and under the liner? Any other suggestions you may have on setting it up
will be appreciated too. Thanks so much.

Elite solar cover reel

January 24th, 2006 · 1 Comment

We have an Elite brand reel for our solar cover. The bearings seem to
last only a couple of seasons, and, at $50 to replace a set, I think it
is time to get a different reel. Can anyone reccommend a good,
reliable brand? We have an in-ground pool.
The roller bearings are plastic and just end up falling […]

Polaris 165 pool cleaners? do they work well?

January 22nd, 2006 · No Comments

Hello all, been awhile since my last post but I was hoping you could
help me.
I have a inground fiberglass pool. Maximum depth is 5 feet. Does
anyone have experience with the Polaris model # 165 “floats on top
with a bag that stays on bottom”. Does it work well?
I have been using a polaris model 360 for […]

Solar calculator.xls

January 21st, 2006 · 1 Comment

The possibility of using solar energy to heat our pool water
temperature is quite attractive, that is why I was excited to see
the “Solar
Calculator.xls” file.
Has anybody used the Excel file “Solar calculator.xls” that is listed
in the group?
The unit measurement is not specified so my question is, should I
asume we are talking square feet? Square feet make […]
