We have a Hayward 450 Cartridge filter on our in-ground pool. I have
been out of town for the past week but my wife has been here. She
called yesterday, after coming home to find that the pool was about
25,000 gallons low. Water had been pouring out of the filter (she said
it was all around by the center band) and had almost drained the pool.
She shut the filter off, turned off power and when I came home today, I
checked it. The bottom of the filter tank has completely split, all the
way around, right underneath the band…just plane cracked all the way
around. I know when I left, the pressure wasn’t above 28lbs. It was
installed in 1998 and we haven’t had any problems before. I will be
calling Blue Haven (the installers) on Monday as the paperwork says that
it has a lifetime guarantee…wonder what they will say!! Has anyone
ever heard of this happening???
