Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I searched the archives and
couldn’t find an answer. I decided to give Ken’s suggestion for
cleaning cartridge filters a try. If I remember correctly, the
Unicell method was to remove the filters, let them dry completely,
then brush off the dried debris with some type of brush. When I
looked at my cartridges, they have what appear to be horizontal nylon
straps or bands around the filter element, which would make it
difficult, if not impossible, to brush. Do all cartridge filters
have these? I have no idea which brand they are (came with the
filter). Can these be removed without damaging the cartridge?
I also searched for replacement cartridges for my Pentair 320. The
best price I found for a full set of four was $191 at poolplaza.com
(Unicell). Does anyone know of a better place on the web for
replacements? I’m thinking about ordering a complete set to swap in
and out while the dirty set is drying. I’m not shocked at this
price, but I’m not happy about it either. Within a few years, this
would pay for a complete sand filter! If the sand alternative
(zeobrite?) could get close to the 10 micron filtration, I would
definitely consider biting the bullet and replacing everything.
