Cracked Filter

November 30th, 2005 · No Comments

We have a Hayward 450 Cartridge filter on our in-ground pool. I have
been out of town for the past week but my wife has been here. She
called yesterday, after coming home to find that the pool was about
25,000 gallons low. Water had been pouring out of the filter (she said
it was all around by the […]

thinking about leaving my ingound pool open all winter

November 29th, 2005 · No Comments

Its that time of the year. Time to close our pools. I am seriously
considering just leaving it open. I am in East Tennessee in
Knoxville. It can get down to zero but it is rare and if it does it
will only happen once and not last very long. The normal average low
temperature for dec is 32, […]

Floating Liner Problem with Inground Pool

November 28th, 2005 · No Comments

I’m completely baffled by the following problem and can’t find anyone
in my area (Ohio) with a solution. This group is my last hope.
I’ve had a recurring problem with my inground pool. Every fall after
I close the pool, water begins to accumulate under/behind the liner
to the point that the liner floats away […]

Automatic vacuum - Swim Vac (Cullwater)

November 28th, 2005 · No Comments

Has anyone heard of this product? I’ve recently come across one at
my local store but it’s the floor model and they don’t have any
literature. I’ve searched the net and found only one site
(translated from italian) with a little information but I was hoping
someone out there actually had one and could give […]

Filter Cartridge Cleaning, again

November 27th, 2005 · No Comments

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I searched the archives and
couldn’t find an answer. I decided to give Ken’s suggestion for
cleaning cartridge filters a try. If I remember correctly, the
Unicell method was to remove the filters, let them dry completely,
then brush off the dried debris with some type of […]

Finding drain

November 25th, 2005 · No Comments

Hi all,
I have an inground pool, and I’m curious as to
how I would drain it. I see the opening of the drain
in the deep end but is there a switch or something to
open and close it?
Thanks!
-Ariel

Hayward variflo valve

November 23rd, 2005 · 1 Comment

Well, the fun continues.. I turned on my pump this morning and after
several minutes noticed something odd… the water level wasn’t rising
even though I was filling the pool to top it off. I also noticed the
glass bulb by the valve had water flow, which shouldn’t happen unless
I’m backwashing or rinsing the […]

Rain Forest Blue

November 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

Someone mentioned using this product rather than
traditional chlorine sanitation. I’m fairly new to
the group and see nothing else in the archives about
it. Anyone else use Rain Forest Blue or have
comments, opinions, etc? It’s hard to tell hype from
reality, but I would not mind getting rid of chlorine
without sacrificing too much in the way of water
health […]

Solar Covers

November 21st, 2005 · No Comments

I was thinking that perhaps I might cut my solar cover in half.
Seems to me that I could take it off and put it on much easier in two
halves and it would still sit on the water fine.
Do you think that would be a good idea?
