Folks,
I’ve trawled through many messages looking for a potential solution
but there still remains several possibilities so…
New (small) AG pool 14′ round 3200 gallons or so (I’m actually in
Switzerland so have roughly converted from 4.2mtrs and 12m3).
Has been installed / filled 3 weeks ago. PH already adjusted as is
correct (double-checked at the pool store). Filtration via sand
filter. Chemical system is Active Oxygen (Bayrol) “chlorine free”
sachets - one per week according to instructions (2 at startup to
shock).
Water is very clear but has a green (not dark green but blue-green?)
tint to it.
Pool store recommended algaecide which I put in 4 days ago at the
recommended dose (300ml - a coke can’s worth?) to shock the pool).
Filtration on 16 hours/day (goes off when we sleep since the pump is
below the bedroom window which is open these days).
No change - water clarity the same (very good), still green though
(no change in colour).
I’d appreciate any recommendations any of you might have on how to
resolve it. What I’ve learned from this forum (thanks!) during
searching so far (nutshell version):
Probably not algae that’s causing it;
Could be metals/minerals in water (copper specifically);
Could be the fact that the test kit I have (with yellow drops) shows
pretty much zero chlorine content (shouldn’t it?)
Coming to this latter point, the Bayrol “Soft and Easy” active
oxygen (double sachet) system I use is supposed to replace chlorine
and “do everything” (i.e. address algae, clarifyer, bio-killer etc.).
Has anyone used these AO systems? I’m beginning to think it’ll be
better to switch to chlorine …
Thanks for any comments / recommendations / help on how to rid my
pool of this “green” tint,
Regards,
Gary.
green but very clear water …
