pump doesn’t pump

September 28th, 2005 · No Comments

I have a 20X40X4 inground vinyl pool with a Haward sand pump.
Yesterday I was draining the water out on ‘waste’. Then, after I took
it through it’s cycle of backwash and rinse I turned it on ‘filter’.
Only bubbles came out. I turned it off and left it overnight. I went
out this morning. Nada. Nothing. The pump […]

Pool Heater size?

September 25th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Another question I have is sizing a propane heater for an A/G pool. I have
an 18′ round pool and I’m seriously considering a propane heater. I live in
central Illinois USA and for a lot of the swimming season we have very hot
days but cooler nights. Even with a solar cover, the pool cools down a […]

September 24th, 2005 · No Comments

I’ve gotten a solar cover for my 18′ A/G pool and I’ve decide that putting
it on and taking it off is a major project. I’d like to make it easy for
one peron to do it and I’m thinking that I’d like to get a reel of some kind
but I’m not sure how it would work. […]

D.E. amounts & Chlorine Granuals

September 21st, 2005 · No Comments

We are in our second summer of pool ownership. Last year when I was
asking questions left and right of the pool place, I was pretty sure
the pool guy told me to fill 6 one-pound coffee cans with D.E. at
the beginning of the season to first coat my filter.
The problem is that […]

Liner Life?

September 20th, 2005 · No Comments

We have a small (12.5 foot diameter) Esther Williams above ground pool. I
installed iit n the spring of 1990. How long should the liner last? I don’t
want it to totally fail during the winter, or even during the summer so that we
lose all the water and damage the rest of the pool. Is that something […]
