Chemicals - Quality vs. Price

August 31st, 2005 · 1 Comment

Does anyone have any experience with the Bioguard line of pool
products? I am relatively new to the pool game and have only used
this line. The quality of the water was top notch last year but
people are telling me that I am crazy to pay the price the pool
company charges for them when the products that […]

Vacuum problem

August 31st, 2005 · No Comments

I replaced my old pump w/ a pentair 3/4 horse and replumbed w/ 2 inch
PVC. I assume I now have no air leaks, which I did before, b/c there
are now no bubbles on the output side, and only an air bubble the
size of a quarter in under the pump skimmer lid. But when I plug […]

OK! How ’bout This One?

August 30th, 2005 · No Comments

Let’s see if I can explain this.
We have an 18 x 36 IG Pool with a vinyl liner.
Every spring, when we remove the cover to open the pool, we have this problem.
Between the edge of the plastic deck molding and the top of the liner, there is
a molded rubber/plastic insert pushed […]

Two Questions

August 29th, 2005 · No Comments

I have two questions. The first is that my pool has a foam on it this year.
What could be causing this?
The second question is that I cannot get good suction when I am running my
vacuum. The pressure is fine when running normally, but when I hook up my hose
my pressure goes down to zero. What […]

Answer!

Do not invite people who cannot control their kids!
DE filters are really good but a friend found out that even a DE
filter cannot handle patio furniture, picnic tables, rose bushes and
car parts.
Seeing the pool after the party……………worth a million!
Seeing the look on the insurance adjusters face…………..worth
just as much!
Seeing the look on the parents face when […]

Automatic Vacuum Question.

August 26th, 2005 · No Comments

Good morning all,
I have a question about vacuums. What do you use?
I have used the Polaris 65 for the past 4 years and LOVE it when it
works. But it seams that it is adversely affected by our very hard
water. We have replaced the guts once and that fixed the problem for
last summer. But again this […]

Another Product Question

August 24th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Hi,
I posted this question when I first joined the group a while back but
I think it may have been missed in the delay placed on new members so
I’ll paste it in here again:
We have recently purchased a home with an inground pool (80,000
Litres), and yes, it’s our first pool. We […]

Muddy brown colored water

August 23rd, 2005 · No Comments

After several days of 24/7 pumping, I finally do not have to backwash the filter
every several hours and clean the strainer basket. However, the water is still a
fairly strong brown color. The clarity is only to the 2nd of four steps… about
2 feet.
Unfortunately I’ll be out until Friday, so had to stop the pump in […]

Humming sound from my pump

August 22nd, 2005 · 1 Comment

Hi all,
I took off the cover, unplugged the plugs to the lines,
primed the pump, attached the screws, etc to the filter and
pump, and when I turne my filter on, all I heard was a hum.
No, gush and rush of water that I’m used to seeing.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!!
-Ariel
