In-Ground Pool Cleaners, What’s a Girl To Use?

May 28th, 2005 · No Comments

My pool came with a Ray Vac pool cleaner when I bought my house a few
years ago. It never really cleaned the sides or the steps or the
built-in benches.
It plugs into the side of the pool into it’s own outlet and is
powered by a 3/4 hp pump, has it’s own timer and everything. Woo hoo!
But […]

skating on the pool

May 26th, 2005 · 2 Comments

I have an inground gunite pool. It is 5 feet deep in the middle.
I am thinking about taking off the loop lock cover and skating on
it. It has been really cold the last week and the ice is solid.
Baring any safety concerns about falling through the ice and
drowning, do you think it will damage the […]

Question on above ground pool

May 22nd, 2005 · 1 Comment

Hi all,
I’m so happy to have found this group since I have a question as I’m
in need of some guidance.
This summer we had a new aboveground pool installed (18′x52″). I
followed the directions for winterizing, brought in the filter etc..
I now seem to have a few problems which may be affecting […]

Laars XL-3 Oil fired heater….

May 21st, 2005 · No Comments

Anyone have any experience or info on the Laars XL-3 oil fired
heater? I’m close to purchasing one for our 37K gallon pool in the
Boston area.
Like to hear any feedback from current XL-3 owners.
Also, if anyone has any alternate thoughts on other heaters, I’d
appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Danny

Adding chlorine

May 20th, 2005 · 1 Comment

I have another newbie question. What is the best way to add granulated
chlorine:
- directly to the pool after dissolving in water
- through the skimmer box with the filter on recirculate
- through the skimmer box while filtering
or doesn’t it really matter!
Thanks
Cheers
Luna

Test kits

May 19th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Hello all
I’m Luna from North Queensland, Australia. We’ve just installed a
pool as our family Christmas present and I’m keen to look after the
water chemistry myself rather than having to take water samples into
the pool shop.
My problem is finding test kits for some of the tests. I bought a kit
which […]

pools with currents

May 17th, 2005 · 3 Comments

I was wondering if people who have various small pools with currents who
tell me pros and cons about their brand. So far I’ve looked into
Swimex, Endless Pools and swimspas. We’re looking for a high-quality,
inground, outdoor pool at least 11×17feet which can be used as a pool, a
spa, as well as an exercise pool with 3mph […]

No pump pressure?

May 15th, 2005 · 2 Comments

I’ve had our pool covered for the past 3 months. I removed the cover today, but
when I turned on the pump, it registered 0 psi. BEfore I turned it on, I went
to load chlorine tablets in the cleaner, and forgto to turn the valve off before
I opened it. Did this cause the 0 psi? Any […]
