I used a solar cover for the first time at the end of last season.
The solar cover worked great but it was impossible to get on and off
the pool without 2 strong adults. I know I could buy a reel but my
pool is odd shaped and 25 feet by 40 feet and the larger reels are
$400 and up.
If I cut the cover into 4 pieces so one person could remove the
pieces and fold it to put it away do you think it would work as well
as one large piece?.

Big pool 25X40 and with most residential reels only expanding to about 20
feet that puts you into the commercial category. If you cut the cover it will
work just as well but no matter how you cut it the individual pieces are going
to be about 10X20.
Ask who ever uses the pool to remove the entire cover before swimming because
if they should swim under any portion of the cover while it is on the pool
and they cannot get to an edge they will not be able to lift the cover. Be
careful!
