Mineral Salt vs. Chlorine

April 9th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Hi i am a new member and we are getting a 20×40 inground pool. One
of the options is a Mineral Salt system by Bioguard. I would like
to know what the annual cost would be for this system for the pool.
We live in the Northeast and the pool would probably be open May
thru August. Any idea how this would compare to regular chlorine
systems?
Also, the Bioguard ad that I saw said that to initially start with
this system you need 1 30lb bag for each 1000 gallons of water. The
pool would need about 36,000 and this means over 900lbs of this
stuff. Is that right?
thanks
john

MY COMMENTS ON SALT POOLS (note the caps) THEY IS NO DOWNSIDE AT ALL…YOU
WOULD HAVE TO BE CRAZY NOT TO HAVE A SALT POOL….MY ONLY MAINTENACE COSTS
ARE ABOUT $4/ MONTH FOR ACID , AND WHATEVER DE I REPLACE DURING THE
YEAR….BOTH OF THESE COSTS WOULD EXIST ANYHOW.
