my polaris 380 has stopped picking up debris-any suggestions?

February 27th, 2005 · No Comments

The cleaner still travels around the pool, but debris remains on the
bottom, and the filter bag comes up empty. This started happening
just two days ago, and before I call Polaris or a pool company, does
anyone have any ideas on what may be wrong?
Thanks,
Ray

Solar cover as winter cover?

February 25th, 2005 · 4 Comments

I’ve only had my solar cover on for a couple of weeks , but I’ve already noticed
that fewer leaves and stuff are in the pool. I live in Mississippi, so our
winters tend to be mild. Is there any reason I couldn’t just leave the solar
cover on until the leaves have all fallen, then remove it, […]

Tile vs. Plaster

February 22nd, 2005 · 3 Comments

Hi there,
I just bought a house and it came with a 36′X18′ swimming pool that
badly needs replastering. I’m new at this and confused about
whether to replaster or go with tiling. The pool is approximately
600 square feet. Half of the pool is about 3 feet and the other
half is 8 1/2 feet deep. I had an […]

Pool Won’t Clear Up

February 20th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Hi All
Well summer is coming to an end in NW Indiana and I’m trying to get ready to
close my IG 28,500 gal.
After the season starting late (Father’s Day) I opened up to a green pool. With
shocking, algecide, brushing and vacuuming it cleared up in about 10 days. The
pool has been […]

Chemicals, cover reels & heat pump

February 18th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Great group people. I am new to pool ownership and really find the
postings informative.
I have an above-ground 15 x 30 pool and I am looking for advice and
comments in three areas:
1. I have a heat pump and the instructions say never to put chlorine
pucks in the skimmer basket. Everyone is […]

First time closing in-ground

February 16th, 2005 · 2 Comments

I’m about to close an in-ground for the season.
Got the chems, cover etc.. Used to do an above
ground at my last house with no issues.
Blowing out the lines is what I’m new at. Is there
a particular tool and or process to follow? The
drain line at the deep end concerns me the most. The
returns and skimmer […]

Home Swimming Pool owners Amaze me..!

February 14th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Think about it - the basic difference between having a sparkling
clear pool in your garden, versus an embarrassing green duck pond
is quite simple: (a) You’re spending a few minutes a week, doing
it right, or (b) You’re spending a small fortune on chemicals,
and wasting hours of time to rectify pool problems that […]

Home Built Pool

February 13th, 2005 · No Comments

I am interested in building my own pool. Small 10×16 or so. Heated
indoor.
Are there any good resources for plans, ideas, materials needed, etc?
I was thinking of concrete block walls and poured concrete bottom.
Then using a “paint on” urethane based sealant. Or perhaps a liner.
Any help and direction is appreciated.
Thanks

Determining Location of a leak

February 13th, 2005 · No Comments

Hello,
I have not yet closed the pool for the season and have noticed a
couple of tears in my liner and am planning to get it replaced when
we re-open the pool next spring. The tears are at the very top of
the liner above the waterline so I don’t believe they are causing the
leak. I’ve also noticed […]

how do you use the vacuum head?

February 11th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Hi,
I hope y’all don’t mind, but I have a couple of questions for ya.
I’ve decided that I want to eventually maintain my pool myself, so
I’m working at acquiring the knowledge that will enable me to do so.
Question #1: I bought a plastic vacuum brush head for vinyl lined
pools and I’ve […]
