Donnie,
How can the pump be running backwards when there are air bubbles blowing out
of the wall connection. The truth of the matter is that the pump is 220V and
you cannot make it run backwards no matter how you wire it. The pressure
relief valves do break on occasion so that is not a big deal either but what is
a
problem is the bubbles blowing out of the high pressure line for the cleaner.
The bubbles indicate there is air in your system and that should be the first
item you fix. Your pump strainer pot should be full at all times and there
should not be bubbles out of the returns in the pool either. The valve broke
because of the air bubbles bouncing it around and the fact that it may have
been old and would have broken anyway.
Before you run the cleaner again be sure the main filtration system is

working properly and is free of air. After that you can adjust the pressure
with
restricter disks in the wall connector and if need be you can also unscrew the
pressure regulator part way to release some pressure. You should also check
the entire cleaner system by taking it out of the pool with the hose still
connected. Lay the hose on the deck and put the cleaner on a 2×4 and turn on
the
pump. Check the swivels, hose nuts for leaks and be sure the sweep tail is
adjusted properly. Check wheel rotation and that the jets are not clogged.
Have fun,
Ken
