Ariel,
Your DE filter grids may need to be cleaned more thoroughly than just hosing
them off. Depending on what part of the […]

Inground pool questions …
December 27th, 2004 · 1 Comment
Hi, I’m about to invest in a 12′x26′ inground pool - would like some
independent advice on the following.
1. gas heater or heat pump?
2. “in corner stairs” which are under the vinyl liner, or preformed
stairs?
3. use a hayward dual speed pump SP2610X152S and keep it on low
speed to maintain circulation/water temps, or go with single speed
and […]

Help!
This spring we moved into a house with a pool. The pool is about 17
years old, vinyl liner inground, 20X40 lap pool, 4 feet deep.
The person who lived in the house before us maintained the pool
himself.
We were in the house about 3 weeks when the pool turned green. We
didn’t […]

Biguanide(softswim, baquacil, omnicare)
December 25th, 2004 · No Comments
Biguanide is one of the more popular non-chlorine, non-bromine
chemical sanitizers. The main advantage is that no chlorine or
bromine is required and there is little chemical odor. Biguanide is
an effective bactericide and can replace chlorine or bromine in that
function. However, chlorine or bromine are also oxidizing agents
that can destroy organic contamination: biguanide cannot destroy
organic contamination and, […]

Sta-rite pool heater
December 24th, 2004 · No Comments
My piece of junk Sta-rite propane heater is leaking.
Looking at the parts diagram it looks like there is about 15 o-rings
and gaskets between the water inlet, heat exchanger, and outlet. Is
this normally the problem when they start leaking. It looks fairly
simple to disassemble and start changing out o-rings. Has anyone
done this before? My thoughts are […]

aquabug question for aboveground pool
December 23rd, 2004 · 1 Comment
We have an 18×33 aboveground pool. I hooked up the (new to us) aquabug to vacuum
the pool. It seems to take forever
for it to move around the pool. Is this normal? We have another similiar
automatic cleaner (can’t remember the name
but it is the same shape as the aquabug only plain rather than a ladybug) and […]

Donnie,
How can the pump be running backwards when there are air bubbles blowing out
of the wall connection. The truth of the matter is that the pump is 220V and
you cannot make it run backwards no matter how you wire it. […]

I am losing my mind..building a pool is hell
December 21st, 2004 · No Comments
Especially if you don’t know what you are doing. We signed the
contract too fast. It took a month after we signed to get some
questions that came up anwsered, which delayed the plans going to the
permitting dept. Now they start digging our pool, and there is
muck. Which is going to cost more. The pool company has […]

Mike,
Where in California do you live? If the temperature is in the upper 90s or
in the 100s your should NOT even think about draining your pool until the
weather cools off. Low humidity and high temperatures will dry out the pool
