Hi EverybodyWell Summer finally arrived in NW Indiana. No Spring. Straight
fromWinter to Summer. The problem I’m having is with my in ground pool underwater
light. It’s an Amerlite by American Products. 12 volt, 300 watts,
withtransformer. I started having trouble last year when for no reasonthe light
“went out”. I replaced the bulb and renewed the wiringconnection from the
transformer to the light. It is getting “juice”from the transformer. Didn’t
work. Since the season was coming toan end I thought I’d deal with it next
season. During the winter, just for the hell of it, I turn the switch on and I
could see that itwas on even through the cover. This year, it worked fine until
about a week ago. Like last year, Ifollowed the manufacturer’s instructions
that “If your light cycleson and off, turn the light on and give it about 12
hours to adjustitself. The cycling will stop!”.Tried that…didn’t work! Before
I begin tracing what is wrong again, can anybody offercomments or suggestions.
I’m thinking “transformer problem”. Idon’t think American Products is still in
business.Question.I’d like to replace the step treads on my two ladders. The
laddersare made of stainless tubing that bend from the deck into the pooland
what appears to be fiberglas or plastic steps. They are 18inches long and I’d
need six. I’ve been to two local supply stores. Are there any mail order
outlets for just the steps? Any suggestionsor sources would be
appreciated.ThanksArthur
One Problem. One Question.

The local supply stores should be able to get you just steps! Is there a
Leslie’s near you I know they sell just the steps.
As far as American Products they are not out of business they were purchased
by a company that now calls itself Pentair. It is made up of several
companies that were purchased or merged over the last eight years or so. The
light
you talk about is still made.
What do you mean you renewed the connection between the transformer and the
light? If I remember correctly the two are hardwired and sealed from the
factory. The connection should not be opened up. I could be wrong it has been
several years since i have seen one and they do not malfunction very often. If
the light is cycling it may be due to the transformer getting hot or the bulb
overheating and causing a thermal overload. Be sure you have the correct
wattage and that no water is getting in the housing.

How about the connections from the breaker to the transformer. Getting a
fluctuating voltage because of a poor connection might also be a cause!
