Your DE filter should be taken apart at least once per year and cleaned.
When you backwash only put in a fraction of the full recharge amount. Are you
backwashing until it runs clear at least. How old is the filter? There maybe
calcium buildup on the grids […]

Save-A-Liner question
September 26th, 2004 · No Comments
I did a post a few days ago talking about the Save-A-Liner I put in
my pool. It has really worked well for me, but it has only been in
there for about 6 months. I was just wondering if anyone else had
tried the product, and if so how has it worked out for you?

Heater

I was thinking of trying to build my own pool heater from a no longer
used coal/wod stove, and wrapping it in copper coils. Anyone try this
yet? and any comments?

Hello all.
I am a new owner of a solar blanket for my 18 x 36 in ground. Does
having the blanket on affect water circulation/filtering in a
significant way?

Wow, the message board was hot last night! I learned something new.
Thanks Ken for your note about the filter not needing backwashing. I
looked at an online ad after your post and I guess when it needs it
you bump it with the bump handle and then drain it. I did that once
by […]

Repost..Vacuums, Never got answers

After reading the posts on the Polaris vacuum, I’m curious about something.
We had a inground, gunite pool put in about 3 years ago by Blue Haven
Pools. It came with a vacuum that works fairly well though it has a
tendency to run in circles at the deep end. So, I’m considering getting
another one but hae some […]

Help! Line clogged?
September 17th, 2004 · 1 Comment
I was manually vacuuming our inground pool yesterday, and I suddenly
lost most of the suction. I turned off the pump and unhooked the
hose from the skimmer hole. When I turned it back on, the pump is
only bringing in a small amount of water. I’m afraid I must have
sucked up something that has clogged the intake […]

Jackie, here goes. Adjust your TA (total alkalinity) first then your pH.
The TA is what will keep you pH steady. The TA is the buffering capacity of
the water or the capacity of the water to absorb acid without changing the pH.
An increase in the TA […]

When the pressure increases and output reduces, I shut the pump off,
bump the handle 5-8 times and restart. Sometimes it returns to
original flow but sometimes not. I dont feel like the bump handle is
giving the resistant pressure that it should. Any ideas?

New to the Group…. and ?’s already

Hey all… great group. I have enjoyed the reading so far. I have a
question however. I am not only new to the group, I am a newbie to
pool lingo. My wife and I are discussing selling the boat and
getting an inground pool. We have gone back and forth about the kind
of pool (trying to keep […]
