more info on chlorine, please

June 30th, 2004 · 1 Comment

Thanks, eletricjet, for the great primer on chlorine. I have been
using Aqua Chem 3″ stabilized tablets in our vinyl liner, in-ground
pool. The label says it is 99% Trichlor0-s-triazinetrione and 1%
other ingredients.
Any comments? I did notice that I had to use two floaters to keep the
chlorine level high enough in our […]

Auto Pool Cleaners

June 29th, 2004 · No Comments

Thinking of investing in an auto pool cleaner like a baracuda or
kreepy krauly. Any bad experiences with either one? We have LOTS of
trees near so we will get the leaf canister also. (16 X 32 in ground)
Will I need a regular pool vacuum if I use one of these? We just
purchased […]

swampy

June 27th, 2004 · 1 Comment

Hi all,
My 25,000 gal plaster in-ground pool is a green swamp. I’ve cleaned
out the leaves & pecans from the bottom, & will disassemble & clean
the D.E. filter tomorrow. My question is, when I first dump in the
shock, should the filter be running, or would it be better to just let
it sit?
It is so great to […]

installation costs??

June 26th, 2004 · No Comments

We’re thinking of maybe having someone else install our pool. It’s
hard to get anyone to give us an estimate over the phone,
understandable, but we’re pretty far out of the city and seems we’ll
have to pay to have anyone come out for an estimate. Really not a
problem if it’s in a price range we would be […]

different types of chlorine

June 25th, 2004 · 1 Comment

I think this was discussed a couple of years ago, but I can’t find it
in the old postings.
Can someone explain the differences in the various “chlorine” tablets
and shocks? Some are sodium tri chlor blah blah and others seems to
have other chemical names. I would really appreciate knowing what
the difference is. […]

New Swimming Pool Owner

June 23rd, 2004 · 1 Comment

Hi,
We purchased a house in October that has a swimming pool. I decided
to join this group as we have never owned a pool and have lots of
questions. The wooden fence that surrounds the pool is an eyesore
(painted barn red, is propped up in several places and the paint is
worn off […]

June 17th, 2004 · No Comments

Hi,
thanks for all the valuable info, btw!
I’d like to pick up an Aquabot and would like to read some
comments regarding it. Is it Good? Bad? Easy to install?
(electrical box, etc)
Also, I live in Northern NJ and would like to see one in action.
Thanks for any help!
