Hey -
With changes in depth standards for competitive swimming, I know some
pools are pitching their starting blocks. If anyone knows of any
places which may be pitching their starting blocks for one reason or
another please let me know. Our swim team is looking for cheap
starting blocks to install at our outdoor pool.
Thanks

Propane gas heaters
March 28th, 2004 · 2 Comments
Hello everyone,
I’m looking into the possibility of installing a propane gas heater
for my in-ground 12,000 galon swimming pool. I still have not decided
for any specific brand or model. My concern right now is that my
swimming pool has PVC (not CPVC) pipes. These PVC pipes are supposed
to be designed for cold water only. Does this mean […]

Solar panels are expensive
March 26th, 2004 · 1 Comment
Wow, 2000 pounds (~$3200) for my pool - that includes 300 pounds for the
autmatic valve thing but does NOT include fitting or even any framework to
hold the panels.
Has anyone tried DIY panels?? How about domestic radiators painted black?
They can be had for next to nothing. They have a much smaller internal bore
but you could […]

above ground pool - closing for the winter
March 20th, 2004 · 2 Comments
Hello,
Living in Florida, I was hoping to keep our pool going all winter, but it
seems that the people who come to visit and my hsuband, find it too cold to
swin, even when the water temperature is 70 degrees. So, please tell me how to prepare the pool for winter (we have the proper
cover) and […]

You had mentioned that you worked for a large pool retailer, and I
was wondering if you had ever heard of a chemical that would turn
red or purple or any other color for that matter when a kid would
pee in the water. I’ve heard that it exist but I can’t find it in my
area. any info […]

Sand vs. Cartridge
March 15th, 2004 · 5 Comments
I work at a waterpark where we have sand filters and at home I have
cartridge filters, I will say that sand filters are much more easier
to use and clean. With the cartridge filter I end up having to put
it through filter cleaning solutions and using high pressure water to
try and clean […]

Which solar panels?
March 9th, 2004 · No Comments
Anyone got any recommendations for solar panels? I live in teh UK so if
there is a dealer here, it would help. Please also give an idea of cost. I’d
need enough panels to heat a 30k gallon pool.
Thanks
Nick

new owner - not sure about pool
March 7th, 2004 · 1 Comment
Hi everyone,
My husband and I just bought a new home that came with an above
ground pool. Since we’ve never dealt with a pool before, I’m sure
I’ll be on here frequently next spring asking questions. However,
right now, we’re not sure we want to keep the pool. I was just
wondering if any one has any information out […]
