Pool Sweeps

February 26th, 2004 · 6 Comments

Closing up my pool for the year I have made the desicion that my well
worn Jet-Vac pool sweep is beyond repair and it is time to replace it.
I found The Jet-Vac did not do a great job on the steeps, the bag was
difficult to empty and has worm excessively over the past 3 years.
Any recomendationson a resonable priced pool sweep?

Was the Jet-Vac a Jacuzzi product? Was it a pressure side cleaner with a
dedicated line and a booster pump? If so a Polaris 380 is about the best
pressure side cleaner I know of. Nothing for your pool is reasonably priced!
One bright spot is that Polaris may still have the $125 rebate offer.

    offer.
If you are tired of changing out those bags, you might want to try a
kreepy krauly or a barracuda, they are similar to the style of the
polaris 380, but work on the suction side of of your equipment, so
the dirt it picks up goes directly to your filter and has no bags to
mess with. prices can range from 400.00 to 600.00

Danny, how is your experience with the G3. Has pentair solved the problem
with the exploding flapper on the KK. If I was to get a suction side cleaner
I would get a Poolvac Ultra. granted they can be more maintenance but if
managed properly the maintenance issue can be brought under control.

    control.
I have never seen an exploding flapper on a KK, except for one
busted diaphram due to large amount of leaves in one pool. Is this a
problem in your area? I worked for Leisure Pools of Las Cruces, NM
from Nov. 1989 until Feb. 2001 when the owner decided to move to TX.
Leisure Pools had made the Aqua 100 5 times during this stretch, and
we were dealers of KK and had no major problems. I now own my own
company called Living Water Pool Services and use KK or barracuda
with great success, but I am interested in the Poolvac Ultra if it’s
comparable in price or even cheaper.

When Pentair purchased KK they changed the design and made the flapper
thinner and the contractor that moulded the flappers screwed up the plastic
and the flappers broke. I saw some that looked like you shot them with a 45.
KK was sending replacements to dealers by the bag.
The PV and KK are usually priced about the same but in my opinion the PV
cleans rings around the KK. But again there is the higher maintenence issue
    as well.
