Hello! We’ve just bought a house with a 1-year-old pool.
We are going to immediately have a pool fence installed, as we have a
3-year-old. We are also interested in learning about more energy-efficient ways
to heat the pool. It has an electric heater. I’ve heard about solar heaters and
heat recovery systems and something my husband says is called a heat pump that
gets the hot air from … the air?! LOL
We’re also thinking … much farther ahead … about possibly having an
in-ground spa added. Anyone ever done this to an existing pool? Of course, we’ll
get some pool builders to come out and tell us how expensive that’ll be… and
probably by a portable spa! LOL
Any recommendations or warnings or suggestions?
Thanks!
Cindy

as already mentioned a heat pump works ok if your in the
southeast. A gas heater works ok if you have a gas company in your
pocket, The safty cover is a good compromise , it (the non mesh ones)
that is, as long as you can install a automatic one, the manuals are
real tough to put on or off.it also retains the heat and cuts down on
evaporation, I will be moving to Las Vegas in January and I will have
A pool that can utilize the auto cover, cover pool inc are a good
bran, aquamatic i also but they are a bit pricier. as far as the spa
is concerned do not install an in groundone. several reasons, the
istallation is grusome, the are a severe drain on utilities, they are
not at all efficint and they and all kind of problems to the pool
equipment. If you want a spa do what I will do buy a nice above
ground unit and place in a nice spot and it will be ready 24/7 and it
is so much more efficient that way.
