blowing out the lines

January 30th, 2004 · 4 Comments

Would anyone care to give direction for blowing out the lines in an
in-ground pool as part of the winter closing process? I have been
doing it successfully for 5 years now, but I always worry all winter
if I have done it correctly.
I drain the water below the return lines and then blow […]

Newbie with question

January 29th, 2004 · No Comments

Hello everyone
I’m getting ready to sign a contract for construction of an in-ground
pool. The builder is asking for 25% down at the signing. Is this
normal or excessive? I would appreciate any input regarding this
aspect of the process.
Thanks,

Deck tiling, pump noise, fan noise

January 27th, 2004 · 1 Comment

We just installed a San Juan fiberglass pool (Phoenix model) and had planned to
put tile on the decking. After walking with wet feet on similar tile, I’m

except for my chlorinator. Here is how it behaves:

Winterizing filter

January 22nd, 2004 · 1 Comment

Hi all/
I used to have a 50 pound sand filter that I emptied out and brought inside.
Now I have 150 pound, and do not want to empty. Can I just bring the
plumbing inside, remove the drain plug, and cover it with a plastic bag?

Wintering a pool

January 20th, 2004 · 1 Comment

My local pool place sells some stuff you put in the water for winter. You
don’t have to do anything after that until Springtime.
What’s this stuff and will it really do what they say?

Pros and cons, once you have painted the pool it will be necessary to
repaint again for the remainder of the life of the plaster. This is not all
bad because if you use a quality paint you may only paint once to twice per
decade. Powersand the pool to get deposits off the walls and floor then
acid […]
