Well the swimming has stop here in Louisiana. When school starts seems
like everyone loses interest in the pool.
Picking up rafts, storing equipment and putting the cover on.We are a
little concerned about mosquitoes this year.had a chicken die and test
positive for the west Nile virus here in our town.So may keep chlorine
level high so they will not be attracted to the water..

Retta,
What type of cover do you use?
2 robbie_50 // Dec 29, 2003 at 8:07 pm
Heavy duty dark blue canvas tarp .I guess that how to describe it.Had
problem with water build up on top.Lots of rain down here.Affraid it
will draw mosquitoes.

Get a cover pump. Should be available at pool supply or hardware store.
Does the cover go up the sides onto the deck? Is there somthing to seal the
edges?

Never though about a pump thanks. The edges are real tight to the stone
deck.It is the water on top that is the problem. We get a lot of heavy
rains here.

You must remember I used to live in Alexandria when England AFB was still
open I know you get rain. A small cover pump in the middle. Just leave it
there and plug it in when the rains come.

Before I moved from Tucson, AZ to Florissant, MO we never really did close
our pool. it was warm enough to go swimming into late October or early
November if you kept the solar cover on it. The house in Florissant does not
currently have a pool but the HOA does have a nice one.

My wife enjoys the moderate temp even though she is from Tucson and I must
admit I do also. We visited my parents who live in this area at Christmas
time when it was very cold but there was no snow on the ground yet. She got
her first taste on the way back to Tucson when we ran into a snow storm in
Oklahoma. I was driving and we all watched people do the freeway ballet for
100 miles in blowing snow. Wow! did you see that they did a tripple before
hitting that Tempo. We will see how she does on 270 going to work when there
has been a fresh snow. She may want to join you in Arizona again.

And for all of you wondering what all of this has to do with swimming pools,
NOTHING!

Where are you at!
10 janis_40 // Jan 7, 2004 at 1:58 am
You know what they call a swimming pool in Kansas during the winter?
11 janis_40 // Jan 8, 2004 at 4:55 pm
Yes the freeway ballet. When some bozo who does not know how to drive in
snow does a tripple spin followed by a double flip and ends up killing
someone else before taking himself out of the show.

You got it!

Those safety covers are pricy and hard to put on are they not? Next pool
will have a retractable soft cover. Costs about twice as much but factored
into the total cost of the pool is not much more and can be opened with a
touch of a button.

Exactly!

Hi.
Can we please email each other privately for the “where are you froms,” How
ya doings,” and jokes, etc. I get an email for every post, and when you come
back from vacation, it is a lot of mail to go through to see if it has any
swimming pool content, or a private email posted publicly.
Thanks so much!
