Swimming in a 20ft pool?

December 15th, 2003 · 3 Comments

Hi all,
Does anyone have an experience with any kind of equipment that allow
swimming in a small size pool (Leg straps or anything else).
Please share thoughts,

I bought a set of straps at Leslies - about $25. I been using it
daily for a couple of summers now. It ties around your feet and
ankles with velcro and attaches to a bungie type cord. If I had to
build a pool, I’d probably make it just long enough to use one - it’s
the next best thing to a lap pool.

    Thanks
Have you ever tried the “waist belt” version product instead of
    the “feet and ankles” one?
Do you have any method of measuring you exercise?

Sorry for the delayed response - I’ve been on vacation. I’ve never
tried the waist belt versions - the feet/ankles version worked so well
I never bothered to look for anything else.
As to measuring the exercise, I count strokes. One full rotation of
both arms I call a stroke, so I just count on one side. The other
good thing about the teather is that I learned to breath on both sides
    - something that I never did learn in competitive high school
swimming. I switch from one side to the other every 33 strokes which
helps me keep track of the numbers of strokes and helps in preventing
a stiff neck. I ususally do 400 strokes counting in groups of 100.
You learn to think about other things even though you are counting,
but every once in a while I’ll lose count of which set of 100 I’m on,
so I can figure it out by which side I’m breathing on and where in the
count I am. This is probably way more info than you wanted.
