Well the swimming has stop here in Louisiana. When school starts seems
like everyone loses interest in the pool.
Picking up rafts, storing equipment and putting the cover on.We are a
little concerned about mosquitoes this year.had a chicken die and test
positive for the west Nile virus here in our town.So may keep chlorine
level high so they will not be […]

Pros and cons of cartridge filters
December 21st, 2003 · 4 Comments
It’s been suggested that if my sand filter is troublesome, I replace
it with a cartdridge filter. What are the pros and cons of these?
I have a 30k gallon outdoor pool. It gets quite a lot of matter in
it, mainly leaves (which I skim out for the most part). We have
fields next door so it might […]

Oil fired heater problems?
December 20th, 2003 · 3 Comments
I tried my oil fired heater for the first time last week since the water is
starting to get a bit chilly.
It’s a vast rusty old thing with nothing accessible to the user except an
on/off switch, a temperature gauge with a needle you can adjust, a reset
button and what looks like an […]

Getting quotes on inground pools
December 16th, 2003 · 3 Comments
We will be putting in pool this Fall and have started to get quotes.
I was set on a fiberglass but am realizing you get more pool for the
money with liners. The question I have is about the shell. I have a
quote from one contractor that uses steel shell from Imperial pools
and another one that uses […]

chlorien tablets and pool liners
December 13th, 2003 · 1 Comment
We have an above ground soft sided pool. Yesterday a chlorien tablet
fell in and was not notived for 24 hours. It ahs stained the bottome
of the pool in one area but I am worried about the liner. Will it
ruin it? Is there anything we can do about it?

automatic chlorinator
December 11th, 2003 · No Comments
I do not have an automatic chlorinator for my above ground pool.
I’ve been dumping chemicals as needed into my skimmer basket. I’ve
heard both sides of the question, that I should have one, and that it
doesn’t make that much difference. Should I have one? Is one better
than another? What is the average price?
Thanks,
Dave

winter cover…solar cover….where to buy ??
December 10th, 2003 · No Comments
I need a winter cover and a solar cover for a 20 x 40 inground pool.
I found a website with each for $95. Anyone know any websites that
can beat that price? I’m looking for a cheap brand. Not looking for
the heavy duty type covers.
Thanks

Help with Pump or Filter?
December 8th, 2003 · 3 Comments
Hi, all–
I’ve been having a problem recently with my pump, I think. What happened
early this season was that the filter would drop to 0 psi while it was on.
This would happen for about 10 seconds, then it would start up again, get up
to about 12 - 15 psi (normal). I backwashed […]

Hello Everyone
December 6th, 2003 · 2 Comments
hello,
Name is bob and I am new to this group. I am getting a new house in April.
If it doesn’t have a pool I will be getting one. Looking at above ground
pool.
What I would like your input on right now is solar heaters, and from anyone
who had or has them.
thanks bob
