FROG Chlorinator

November 30th, 2003 · 1 Comment

Anyone use or have an opinion on the FROG chlorinator or the smaller
version that goes in your skimmer? I’m getting many mixed opinions.
Thanks in advance.

Backwashing

November 29th, 2003 · No Comments

When we had an above ground pool with a sand filter, we would backwash
it until the little glass jar on the side of the filter had clear water
running through it. Sometimes we would only have to do it for a minute
or two, other times longer depending on when we last did it, and how
dirty the […]

vacation question.

November 29th, 2003 · No Comments

The first two steps are good but depending on where you live putting the
solar cover on may not be a good idea. You need a dark cover something that
will keep out the dirt and light. Covers such as these are made for AG pools
and they are not very expensive.

Digest Number 92

Your first line of defence is the chlorine you use to sanitize the pool.
Next is the high dose of chloring you use to shock the pool. Next is a
product that has been on the market several years and it is used to remove
phosphates from the water. Phosphates are a componet of plant food so if
there […]

Newbie Pool Owner!

November 25th, 2003 · 2 Comments

Well, I knew if I went looking I could find a group about pool
owners! My wife and I are currently having an in-ground pool installed
(35×15)and we are too excited! The workers were here until 11 o’clock
last night finishing up the rebar framing so that they could shoot

response to electricjet about backwashing

November 23rd, 2003 · 1 Comment

I noticed you told another member to backwash for 3-5 minutes. If I
were to backwash for that long, I’d have to fill up the pool again to
finish backwashing and then fill it AGAIN to start filtering. Is that
what I’m supposed to be doing? If so, I need to get rid of the pool
because I have […]

heaters

November 20th, 2003 · 4 Comments

Hi,
I hope a pool expert can help me here. Our pool had a broken and
rusted out heater when we moved into the house. I would like to buy
a heater and I am wondering if there are any that can be directly
vented out the side wall of the cabana that houses our equipment.
Our home furnace vents […]

Problems with algae

November 19th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I have a 30 x 15FT in ground liner pool with a sand filter, with new
sand 3 months ago. The ph is around 7.4 to 7.6 with chlorine quite
high at around 6ppm. I seem to have a constant problem with algae. As
I live in England, the sun is rarely intense, in fact rarely visable!
The pool […]

Sand filter problems HELP!!!!

November 18th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I have a 24 ft above-ground pool with a Jacuzzi brand Laser Sand
Filter. The setup is only one year old, purchased by the prior
homeowners last summer. We use BioGuard chlorinating products.
My problem is that the filter makes a horrendous grinding noise and
is obnoxiously loud. It sounds like a very old motor […]
