Why do you take the floater out when you shock? It is not necessary to take

When you shock its a good idea for your pump to run about four hours after
adding shock to be sure it is mixed well. There is no reason to take the
floater out when shocking because the main reason is that you may forget to
put it back in. Several days later you remember but the pool is cloudy or
worse green. The tabs are compatible with the shock and the Alkalinity
increaser is Sodium Bicarbonate or baking soda. Yes you are adding
commercial grade baking soda to your pool. If you don’t mind my asking what
was the name of the store?

I forgot to mention that it is advisable to wait 24 hours before swimming
after shocking mainly due to the high chlorine levels. They may be 10-20 ppm
vs 3-5 ppm normal chlorination. The high levels may cause reaction in people
with sensitivity to chlorine and it will dry out your skin. Every woman I
know uses an ocean of lotion already so staying out of the pool until the
chlorine levels have returned to normal is a good idea.

I have been taking care of my pool for 21 yrs.I never take the floater
out.I let them swim 1 hour after skockingt.Run the pump to mix it.Always
shock at night after swimming is over.I also run pump at night turn off
in day.I know I heard to run in day but been doing it this way no
problems at all.if some one has senitive skin like my son he will wait
to go in a little longer after shock it has been put in.
You can make having a pool a lot of work or you can learn how to make
it easy to care for.
Vaccum once a week.No tree around that makes a big difference.Shock on
Wed. night , test water apply needed chemicals, vacumm next day on
Thurs.pool ready for Weekend.Thats my routine.Works great.
Enjoy your pool Have fun!

Sounds like you have it down to an art. I wish more people did that.
