Pool replaster.

May 29th, 2003 · 1 Comment

Wait on the lawn, in fact wait on any improvement project in the backyard
until they are done. Are are you going with replaster or one of the newer
surfaces such as Diamond Bright? Replaster creates a hell of a mess becaust
they chip off the old plaster and that creates dust and a lot of material to
be removed. Also the crews consist of ment men who may trample your lawn,
not on purpose but because they need to stay out of each others way. Also
any stray bits may get in the new lawn and create a hazard when hit by the
mower. I have known several people to go with fiberglass instead of
replaster. Results were mixed.
Select your contractor with care and remember you get what you pay for.

I am glad you mentioned the mess than chipping makes. Although there
is no landscaping going in right around the pool, there is a separate
raised section that will be getting sod. That is only 10-12′ from the
pool area, and only separated by a wrought iron fence.
I don’t know what material will be used. Until a few days ago, I
thought plaster was plaster. :-) I will have to do more research.
The other outdoor projects on tap are putting a drain pipe near the pool
in a corner of the house that accumulates water when it rains. My
landscaper is going to do that. We are also replacing the sliding glass
door whose frame as been corroded by accumulation of water in that

corner. You walk out of the living room through that door and if you
don’t turn quickly, you wind up swimming. I spend time each day
wondering what went into the minds of the people who planned this pool.
;) And eventually, we will have the exterior of the house painted. The
more I think about it, the more it makes sense to do the pool first.
