Hello All,
I am planning on a new pool for our new home. Undecided, in-ground or
not? I have had an above ground that was very good, no problems but
would like an in-ground. Can anyone give me a hint as to which brand,
liners, fiberglass or concrete, and such are best or not so good. And
what can I do to lower the cost? Is sub contracting for the cheapest
whole diggers the way or have someone do the hole thing? Thanks much.

We used to have an above ground pool in LA and when we moved to the
Memphis area, we were going to do the same. We did some checking on
pools and decking and to have the decking we wanted was going to cost
us quite a bit. We checked on the inground and they weren’t much
more, so that’s what we did. Of course, by time we finished
designing, enlarging, etc it cost a lot more…but boy, is is worth it.
We decided to go with the Gunite as we didn’t want to have to worry
about replacing liners every 7 years or so and we could free-shape
design. We contracted with Blue Haven Pools and, while it took longer
than we liked, they did have it done when they said and it’s
fantastic. Haven’t had any trouble in 3 1/2 years with the pool or
them. We did spend the money on a gas heater and are kind of sorry we
didn’t get a heat pump. The gas heater is expensive to run. Right
now, it’s so darn hot here that the pool is 90 degrees, but it was
great when I got home from work at 3am.
If you have any other questions, feel free to write.
