The house I bought has a pool filter with the markings worn off
for ‘Filter’ and ‘Backwash’. My water is cloudy, and I want to be
sure I moved the lever back to ‘Filter’ after backwashing and
cleaning the filter modules. Can anyone tell me if all DE filters
(Purex in particular) have the same position for backwash. On mine,
the lever is pointing to the back of the filter, or at the backwash
outlet pipe. Which position ‘Backwash’?
If the filter is set to Backwash, the backwash plug is in, and the
pump is on, what will happen? Does the DE get blown into the pool?
And if so, can the lever be moved to Filter, then the DE filtered out
back where it belongs?
Thanks, Mike
Valve position on Purex DE filter

Mike: you most likely have an answer to this question but if it is a
mulitport valve backwash is to the back of the valve and filter will
point to the back of the valve closest to the filter. Make sure you
add DE to the filter or it will never clear up.
