Black vinyl liner

February 25th, 2003 · 2 Comments

Has anyone ever seen a black vinyl liner in an in
ground pool? I got a sample of the liner; it looks like
an inner tube. I wonder if it would look weird next
to light gray coping stones. I love the natural pond
look of black gunite pools but this sample looked
awfully severe. Comments?

pool decking

February 24th, 2003 · 2 Comments

My 4 month old pool decking has patches of dark
grey. The concrete contractor says it’s traped
moisture. I find this hard to believe. They poured using
two trucks. 1st truck area no patches, 2nd truck lots
of patches. Anyone have experience with trapped
moisture in pool decking?

Well Points or French Drain?

February 20th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I’m getting a pool put in as we speak, (non-diving, vinyl lined) and although I
paid for well points in the contract, the builder instead put a “french drain”
in. Am I being ripped off?

gunnite vs. liner

February 12th, 2003 · No Comments

WE have a gunnite pool and the last house we were
in had one. This pool was surrounded by trees and
has had the decking broke(low heat decking in large
slabs) and there are surface cracks in the gunnite. The
other pool we had was built by a different company. no
cracks and the pool surface did not wear out […]

No pressure in my pipes

February 9th, 2003 · 1 Comment

I was cleaning my pool after the tropical storm
came through and noticed that my pump was running, the
skimmer basket was floating in it’s housing, and on my
guage it was reading between 0-5 bouncing between the
two numbers. I tried to vacuum and there was hardly
any suction. I have a 13,000 gal inground pool and my
middle jet […]
